Please feel free to check our FAQ below, and if you can’t find an answer to your question, contact us @ (202) 223-0023 or tefl@lado.edu.

What is TEFL?
TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) is teaching English to people who do not speak English as their first language. This is largely done abroad; however, increasingly many people are teaching English here in the US.  You will also find other acronyms like TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) which is interchangeable with TEFL.
Am I too old/too young to do a TEFL course?
In all honesty, age has nothing to do with it. Seriously! People of all ages, from recent college graduates, to those looking to change careers, enroll in our course.
Can LADO’s TEFL program set me up with a job following the course?
We are continually setting up arrangements with schools overseas as well as actively recruiting our graduates for providing instruction as full-time, part-time, substitutes and private tutors at our many centers. So, keep an eye on the TEFL page of lado.edu to see when and what jobs become available.
Do I need to purchase any textbooks for the course?
Yes, there are four textbooks that are required reading for the course, which can be purchased at the time of your enrollment through our bookstore (at the LADO DC Center campus).
Where are the TEFL Courses held? Is there an online option?
The instruction for the TEFL program meets at LADO’s DC Center campus at 401 9thStreet, NW, Washington, DC. It is easily accessible by metro (Gallery Place). At present, LADO doesn’t offer an online course, but check back soon – it’s in the works.
