Applying to the LADO International Institute is an easy process where we guide and assist you every step of your application process: student visa, transfer, change of status, or reinstatement.
Student (F-1) Visa

Only three steps to achieve your dreams!
Applying to LADO will take a maximum of three business days. To get your visa, please plan your trip one or two months in advance.

Prepare your documents
You only need:
- A copy of your passport
- A copy of your bank statement with the current balance
Do you have a sponsor?
- If your sponsor is a citizen or resident (permanent or temporary) of the USA, he/she must fill out the I-134: http://www.uscis.gov/i-134
- If your sponsor is not citizen or resident of the USA, he/she must write a letter stating that he/she will support your studies at LADO.

Complete your application
Contact us or fill out our application form:
- We will contact you within 24 hours
- Make the following payments: $100 Registration fee + $1,500 Deposit
- We will issue your I-20 (document that will support your visa application) in three business days
Note: If you want LADO to send the I-20 to your country, shipping fees will apply.
If the visa application is rejected, LADO will refund the entire deposit amount ($1,500); please note, the $100 registration fee is non-refundable (Contact your Admissions officer for more information)
Get your Visa
Once you receive the I-20:
- Pay the SEVIS fee ($350) and print the I-901: https://fmjfee.com
- Set up an appointment with the embassy of the USA in your country
- Get your visa
- Travel!

- Contact the embassy to check what other documents you might need for your interview. If you need help with homestay, please click here!
- Please try to arrive one week before your class starts so you can take your placement test. Don’t forget to bring your passport with you.

Transfer to us

Only three steps to transfer to LADO!
The transfer process is very fast! You can transfer any time before the class starts.

You only need:

- A copy of I-94
- A copy of your F1 visa or Change of Status approval
- A copy of your bank statement with the current balance
- The International Transfer form. Download the form here: Arlington Campus, Washington DC Campus, Silver Spring Campus, Baldwin-Wallace Campus (Berea, OH)
Complete your application
You can contact us or fill out our application form:
- We will contact you within 24 hours
- Fill out the top of the International Transfer Form and send the form to your current school
- Your current school will send the International Transfer Form to LADO via fax or email. If you are “in status” and we have received the required documentation, make your payments: $100 registration fee, 1 month of tuition. Click here for prices and schedule.
- LADO will issue an acceptance letter for you and then your current school will release your SEVIS records to LADO
Register
Once you receive the acceptance letter:
- Come to LADO, take your placement test, and register for class!
Note: Don’t forget to request your I-20 once your classes start.

Change your status

Only three steps to change your status!
If you are “in status” in the United States and your visa allows you to change your status, LADO will assist you during the process. What do you need to do?

Make an appointment with one of our DSOs (Designated School Officials) (where?: click here), and bring the documents (*) to one of our offices

- A letter explaining why you want to become a student in the USA
- A copy of your bank statement with the current balance (last three month transactions)
Do you have a sponsor?
- If your sponsor is a citizen or resident (permanent or temporary) of the USA, he/she must fill out the I-134: http://www.uscis.gov/i-134
- If your sponsor is not citizen or resident of the USA, he/she must write a letter stating that he/she will support your studies at LADO.
- The sponsor must provide an original letter from his/her employer, translated into English, stating the following: Date and nature of the employment, salary paid (in $US), whether the position is temporary or permanent.
Before making any payment, please contact the admissions officer to review the documentation and verity that you are eligible for a change of status.
Note: You could be required to bring more documents depending on your status.
You cannot apply for a change of status until you have been in the U.S. for three months or longer and you must have at least 45 days before your I-94 expiration date

- If you have received the confirmation of eligibility from one of our Admissions Officers, please fill out the application form and make the following payments:
- $100 registration fee *non-refundable*
- $300 Change of Status processing fee *non-refundable*
- $1,500 deposit
2. We will issue your I-20 (document that will support your change of status application) within three business days.

Prepare a money order or check payable to the Department of Homeland Security for $370. An additional biometrics services fee of $85.00 is required for you and $85.00 for each dependent included on a Form I-539A. - Send your documents to USCIS:

Lewisville, TX 75067 - USCIS will adjudicate your application and will send you a notification letter via mail. Once you receive the approval letter from USCIS, come to the center you applied to, take your placement test, and register for class!

- The Change of Status approval can take between three to six months (in some cases it could be longer)
- If approved you will not receive a visa stamp in your passport and if you leave the country you will need to apply for a (F-1) student visa
Reinstatement

How to apply?
Reinstatement processes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at info@lado.edu and one of our Admissions Officers will let you know if you are eligible for reinstatement.
What is reinstatement?
- Have not been out of status for more than 5 months (exceptions apply if there were exceptional circumstances)
- Are currently enrolled or intend to enroll for a full-time course load
- Can establish that the violation of status resulted from circumstances beyond your control
- Have not engaged in unauthorized employment
- Can document sufficient financial resources to pursue a full-time course load
- Do not have a history of repeated violations
- Are not deportable from the USA on any other grounds
